Community and Safety Updates

  • President Brooks informed the team about the passing of community member Ms. Ivy. She also discussed a disruptive car accident on New Hampshire Avenue.

  • Sophia Tekola discussed flu shots, Covid boosters, and the Juvenile Curfew Enforcement Pilot Program aimed at young people's safety.

  • Lenora Fuller-McCall stressed the need for evidence of the curfew pilot program’s success, especially in Ward 4.

    • President Brooks also emphasized that while crime rates have increased, they are still lower than in years past.

  • Sophia Tekola outlined deadlines for the dual enrollment program and upcoming events like the Open Streets on Georgia Avenue, the DC hiring fair for veterans, and a shredding event.
